Our two biggest national events this summer have been the Great Yorkshire Show and the International Cheese Awards... we're going to tell you about them!
The Great Yorkshire Show is in the Harrogate Showground. It's 3 days long, and it's always mid-July. We attend it every year, but it's a hard show; the trading days are from 7.30am-7.30pm (in fairness, it's a bit earlier on the last day), so that's a long time on your feet! What was lovely about this show was the number of people who were from the North-East who came to see us to offer their support. It was like being visited by familar faces!
Another important reason for going to the Great Yorkshire Show is for the Cheese and Dairy Show:we had entered Coquetdale in the Cellar-Ripened category, Brinkburn in the Goats' cheese category and Redesdale in the Sheep's cheese category.
We were absolutely delighted to win GOLD for Coquetdale, and SILVER for Brinkburn. We were particularly proud of the Gold award for Coquetdale:Coquetdale is often overlooked by Reiver in the cellar-ripened cheeses, and actually, this time, it was Coquetdale which shone. We are so proud of our award-winning cheeses!
The Internationational Cheese Awards take place in Nantwich every year. We go every year as part of our good friends Bradbury's, who are one of the distributors we work with. We got to see some of our other customers, including Fine Cheese Company and Premier Cheese. It's always a busy event, but this year, it was absolutely crackers:on consumer day, we didn't even get a lunch break, such was the number of people who came to see us!
